About Outreach Eye Care
Many elderly residents who live in nursing homes have unmet eye care needs. Undetected eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataract, diabetic retina and macular degeneration are chronic and common as they age. Vision loss and blindness can often be prevented with regular examinations and treatments.
Vision loss has a significant impact on the resident's quality of life. They are more susceptible to falls, are more functionally dependent on staff and daily routines such as eating, reading and watching TV are inhibited. This contributes to frustration, anxiety and sad moods.
Outreach Eye Care was established in 1978. The doctors have over 50 years of combined experience and specialize in geriatric eye care services. They utilize state-of-the-art portable equipment and have a wide selection of attractive eye wear. All services are provided conveniently "on site" at the facility.
These services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private payment. Each doctor works full time in a local area, is scheduled regularly in the same facilities and is very familiar with the nursing staff and residents' needs. This provides excellent continuity for preventive and emergency care.
